At 1.00am this morning before going to sleep I was searching for a good picture of my dad to post on Father’s Day and came across this one which I took in 1991 when we celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I decided to take a shot of it and post it today on Father’s Day.
My dad was a gentle unpretentious man who shared his life between his work and caring for his family. A tailor by trade he was well known and much loved in Sliema where he lived. I had a special attachment to him as we both loved football. I was the only child he took with him to watch Sliema Wanderers play in the Malta Premier League and I remember him protecting me from squabbles and fighting which weren’t infrequent at the stadium in those days. When I grew up, I remember him following me in my brief football career as an amateur even when I played for a short period for Hamrun Spartans and we faced Sliema Wanderers and he joined Hamrun fans against the Sliema side.
I am sure he is in heaven looking down on his children and their families and protecting us from up there. Rest in peace dad – and mum. Until we meet again, always in my heart.
Thank you very much for looks, comments and fav's.
Thats a nice scene - arm through arm and talking to each other. Your Mum's scarf may be very important. This is like your own thoughts for your father and great to share!
