And what a gift! This is the name given to this grand show of beauty.
Last Sunday afternoon, I gave up from my afternoon nap to go visit St John’s Co-cathedral in Valletta. You may ask “why?” The cathedral had on show 29 ‘sacred’ tapestries hanging between and on the columns on each side of the main aisle which I had never seen before in my life. They had not been hung in the cathedral for the last 30 years and had been for the last 5 years in Belgium for restoration, a project started in 2006 and completed in 2022. I will tell you more in the coming days.
I went early in order to be among the first to get in as, like I was expecting, a big crowd came on this first day and people were let in and out in small groups. I managed to go in with the second group.
This is a picture I took from inside the closed main door of the cathedral. The tapestries are hanging on each side. Notice the beauty of the ceiling and of the floor. I have never seen a church as ornate and beautiful as this in all my life.
Many thanks for looking, for your comments and for the fav's.
I would love to have seen that!
