It was just starting to rain when I got home from school tonight....too late! So no going out to look for something interesting!
And then Mary's violet caught my eye. Mary was a supply teacher in the last school I worked in and nourished lots of little violets - as she did children - and brought them for one of the fundraisers at school. I have managed to keep it for about 3 years and it has a rest from time to time and then gives me great pleasure when I see it flowering again. I sometimes meet Mary's niece when shopping and it's lovely to be able to send greetings and say 'Tell Mary the violet is flourishing!'
It's a bit dark but the one I took with flash on lost something special!

Thanks - it gets a little feed from time to time and thrives on neglect the rest! Yes we are back at school. Our hols started early in July so we have had our 6 weeks...............unbelievably!
It's always so nice to have something living and beautiful to remind you of a special person. I know how the flash tends ot wash out the colors so it was a good choice to go with this shot. Sometimes you can brighten them a bit with whatever photo processing program you have available. But this is fine the way it is. Nice memory!
Gifts are so much more than things as there is the whole sense of sharing and mutual delight!
