I think I'm ready for tomorrow evening now!
My Thursday evening housegroup are going out for a Birthday Meal to celebrate two special birthdays ...with 0 at the end!
Pat's birthday was at the weekend and Jean's birthday is next month but she's going to USA to her nephew's wedding so we are celebrating both tomorrow.
It has been very tricky co-ordinating all the arrangements with different people being away at different times over the summer but I think all the planning will have been worth it when we reach our restaurant tomorrow evening!
I was decorating this cake last night when 'The Great British Bake Off' was on television....and was glad the judges weren't in my kitchen!
I wanted the cake to be easily cut and taken home by both Jean and Pat so made it in 4 sections! Pink side for Jean and Lemon side for Pat......
There are different coloured layers of sponge inside (pink and lemon) with strawberry jam and buttercream in two sections and lemoncurd and buttercream in the others.......don't know what it will look like when the knife hits though!
And two of us found very pretty gifts for them which I think are just perfect!........will show you tomorrow if you want to pop by!
Three good things
1. Creative fun doesn't have to be perfect
2. Great friends...........always special
3. That satisfied feeling when the job is done!
What a lovely gift for your special friends. I bet the cake is delicious - it sounds as if it will be. I think you should have been on the bake-off lst night - some of those cakes sounded a bit dodgy to me!
Those look beautiful! Cake decorating is a talent I don't have but wish I did. Though it might be a bit detrimental to my waistline to take it up now with it just bring me here to eat all the failed attempts. :-)
