It was awesome! After a 7 hour, overnight flight from Glasgow we arrived in Dubai for a 22 hour experience. The hotel was lovely, the heat was hot! The open top bus tour was a good idea - sheltered a little - with excellent and informative commentary. And the work that has been completed is only part of the story.........so much more as they aim for EXPO 2020.
I just wasn't sure about something! For all the achievements ........is there a human cost? I don't really know. Maybe next time (if there is a next time) we will stay longer and explore some of the historical places.
Three good things
1. a welcome breakfast at the hotel
2. showers to refresh after the heat
3. a luxury sleep between flights
That is a very interesting picture to me. My brother works for a very rich man who just gave up his US citizenship and moved to Dubai. I've been wondering about it.
I thought Dubai was a real culture shock when we stopped over 6 years ago....lots changed since then of course but always remember the workmen building in the heat with layers of clothes on to keep the sun off!
