It was dark when I left for work and it was dark when I got home .....but this was a photo I took on Sunday of some flowers I got during the holidays.
Traditionally on Christmas Eve Laura has made one of our special 'Marieke Cakes' and taken it over to the family of Maryam, her lovely schoolfriend. They all love it!
Last year was the first Christmas Eve that Laura was in Australia and she asked me to make one and take it over 'from/for' her! Well what a welcome I got! They had just been saying that it didn't feel like Christmas Eve without Laura and her cake!
This year the cake flopped on Christmas Eve but I had a nice chat with Maryam and her mum on the phone and then on Laura's Birthday (30th) I had a successful cake to deliver ......to the delight of the family! And I was given this very pretty Campanula plant which I love.
Three good things
1. Cakes.....to make, to give, to eat!
2. Friends and traditions that develop between them.
3. Flowers.....what would the world be like without them!
