Well .....our giant (for the story of Jack and the Beanstalk) is now in place! Everyone is pretty impressed!!!
We had some pretty interesting maths working this out. Jack's mother wrote a letter to us with a print of the giant's footprint from her garden! She wondered if we could work out how big he was (though she didn't want to meet him!)
So we measured our feet, worked out how tall some of the children were using their own footprints (around 6 and a half times as big!) and then used the giant's footprint to measure his head, arms, legs etc!! And here he is.
Next week we will have to write a reply to Jack's mother to let her know!!!
Three good things
1. great involvement in real life maths
2. awe response of children to what we achieve together
3. creativity......there is no end to it!
Thank you for your comments ....much appreciated and hope to catch up soon.
