Dad has nearly finished lifting his potatoes. He does a row or two each day and the pace is fine.
This year he says they are not so good.....blames all the dry weather earlier in the season.
Great to have health in body and mind to continue working his garden after all the years.
Three good things
1. Leisurely morning and a nice walk to the paper shop.
2. Made some soup for lunch and a casserole for tomorrow......feels good! Allan does so much of the cooking in our house that it's quite a novelty.
3. The sun is trying to shine again. It was gorgeous in the morning but the haar rolled in off the sea a while ago......
What a lovely photograph - and how I envy him, I have once been able to keep my family self-sufficient in potatoes & parsnips for a whole winter - and I was so proud. It can be back breaking work, and your father is so right to be pacing himself, something I could never do! A real expert!

Thanks for your lovely comments. Dad has worked this garden for 57 years so he knows every inch of it. As he said recently, " it challenges me physically to the limit but it's great to have it."
