All wrapped and ready for a different 'Advent Calendar' this year. There's a book for every day in our special Christmas Bag. Every day one of the children chooses a book, unwraps it, we read it together and then they take it home to share and hopefully pass on when they have finished with it.
We have a small group so they'll get a few each.
Some of the books are new and some are 'nearly new' from charity shops, or from friends who heard what I was doing. It's a lovely way to promote reading for pleasure at a busy time of year and healthier than sweets! Hope to create our own calendar with photos of 'Book of the day'.
Three good things
1. Books......we are so privileged to have so many
2. Charity shops....so good to recycle and others benefit
3. Advent. ...after the dark days of November (in the northern hemisphere) the lights and traditions of preparing for Christmas are reassuring.
