The Water of Feugh

Looking at the weather forecast this morning everything was grey and dull, so we headed towards Deeside and found sunshine and blue skies.
We had a lovely lunch at Aboyne, in a coffee shop I used to enjoy when I was 'out on the road' some years ago, visiting schools across Aberdeenshire. It has delicious things to eat but also an amazing assortment of household delights.....mugs and baskets, lamps and throws, and so much more!!
We were amused to notice the 'converted campervan' which Sarah had used to arrive at Pitmedden with her Dad and bridesmaids was busy with another wedding in Aboyne today!
We crossed to the south Deeside road and eventually reached the Water of Feugh, a stream that is the largest tributary to the River Dee."This stream rises in the Grampian Mountains of Scotland, in an area known as the Forest of Birse, and has a particularly scenic aspect in a series of cascades at the Bridge of Feugh slightly above its point of discharge to the Dee."
It was spectacular and from the bridge we could see salmon leap, though I don't think they would travel very far today as the force of the waterfall was very powerful.
Such lovely colours everywhere we went and nice to remember previous visits and journeys.
Three good things
1. Laundry cleared - I wouldn't have survived all the handwashing of previous generations!!!
2. Leftovers for dinner
3. Catch up with cousins, and a lovely recording of my aunt singing 'Somewhere over the Rainbow!
A beautiful picture. You have captured the rushing water and the autumn shades of foliage perfectly. I also enjoyed reading all the wonderful geographical names.

I love the falls of Feugh, and I know the coffee shop you were in. The Blackface Sheep? Their mozzarella and sun-dried tomato scones are to die for! My favourite cafe in Aboyne. Sounds like you had a lovely day, and you're right, the weather was better than the forecast. We were out in our back garden, still trying to 'take back control'!
