An old time piece by sarah19

An old time piece

I took the clock from the dining room mantelpiece home from number three. It was a wedding gift from my uncle and aunt back in 1954. I didn't think it was a very valuable piece and the key had been lost a long time ago. I wondered how much life might be left in it. I remember the chime every quarter of an hour from a long time ago....and how frustrating it was if no one remembered to silence it at bedtime πŸ˜…
So I called a clock expert who has a studio 20 minutes drive away and he was kind enough to keep it and clean it up a bit, as the inner workings were actually quality brass and steel and he liked the sound of the chime.......even though he doesn't usually do those kind of clocks!
Three good things
1. A kind listener with a warm heart.
2. A lovely walk with my special friend, Sheila.
3. Sibling zoom chat and Masterchef
It’s a nice looking clock

It's lovely and a good memento for you to keep and see daily. I have a clock which belonged to my grandparents, and was given to them on their engagement in 1927. It has been converted to battery and works perfectly. I wouldn't swop it for the fanciest clock in the world.

@jamibann oh what a good idea to convert it to battery....I will keep that in mind for future reference. πŸ˜„
