We headed north for 'an outing' this afternoon and stopped at this old church about 6 miles from home. I remember going to some services here when I was young ....September evenings ....with no electricity there were some tilly lamps near the preacher which cast spooky shadows if he moved or waved his arms much! Now it is only open to visitors on occasional Saturdays in summer, very simple inside, but the Pictish Stone stands in the graveyard which is open all year round.
I caught some fun reflections in the windows, and had never noticed the bell tower before....it was never rung in my time as it wasn't safe!
@sarah19 Thanks Sarah- that is really interesting to me- not only because of my religious studies, but also as a art history/fine arts major in my undergrad days. The 9th century! Wow....
tells you more about the Pictish Stone. There are lots of these all over Scotland! Enjoy exploring!
