Christiana

Copenhagen, Denmark

A self-proclaimed autonomous neighbourhood of about 850 residents, covering 84 acres living in 'harmony' promoting love and respect for others. Members of the community pay rent which is used to further the community, they do not own the land or pay any tax, instead they just pay the government water and electricity.

It is a controversial community in Copenhagen, which started as a military area which then became an area where people squattered. Authorities regard Christiania as a place where people live in community and they are regulated by a special law, the Christiania Law of 1989, which excludes them from some Danish Laws.
Christiania is know to sell cannabis in its 'green light district.' The members of the community are trying to normalise it to legal status but this has lead to many conflicts which are ongoing.

Typical government red tape.. Squash the community who can actually live in harmony..Great shot, POV and lovely back story.. Enjoyed!
