World Aids Day by sarahhorsfall

World Aids Day

December 1st is World Aids Day, and I've been keeping my eyes open to spot somewhere to buy this year's red ribbon, and found one today in Starbucks.

More than 90,000 people are currently living with HIV in the UK and globally an estimated 33.3 million people have HIV. More than 25 million people between 1981 and 2007 have died from the virus, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.

@angievega @daveanajao @triplescoop @cmuir1963 Thank you - I know people who are HIV+, and I also used to work at the National Children's Bureau, which co-ordinates a network for the children in the UK who are infected or affected by HIV - http://www.ncb.org.uk/hiv .. I think there's an ongoing need to raise awareness and challenge people's prejudices and fears.
