My father (Frank Bolden) passed away on this day last year. This photo was taken while visiting his final resting place this morning at Arlington National Cemetery. So today's photo is a tribute to my dad who is missed every day.
Would like to let you know that I appreciate your father's service. I know you were proud of him and this lovely picture says volumes. Very nice tribute to him.
@connie865 Thank you for your comment. Right before he was sedated before a surgery he would never awaken from, the two Former Navy doctors to give him the anesthesia saluted him and thanked him for his service. I will never forget it and it was one of the last things he heard.
Wow, what a wonderful thing to do! Too often the service members, particularly those who served in the past, were never given the appreciation they deserved! I know it is a moment you will cherish along with the other memories you have of your father.
A touching tribute to your Dad... the small cross above his name offers comfort and peace. My heartfelt appreciation for your Dad's love of country and for his service.
@greenpeg@calm@tippy@pflaume@houdiniem@custodiabaptista Thank you all for your words. I like to think of it more as a day of remembrance and appreciation for the time we had together as we were very fortunate in comparison to so many others.
@colie Thank you for your comment. Likewise, please accept my condolences for the loss of your father last year. Your comment "...it still doesn't seem real" really resonates as I've thought the same thing for over a year now.
@michaelelliott Michael: thanks for your comment and I'm sorry to hear about your dad. As you likely know, the Marines and Navy worked together as a unit. I thank your dad for his service to our country.
