No photos today so here's another one of Elvis in the office on Sunday. Was busy out in the garden again. We had a wellpoint dug to find underground water. It is a bit brakish or salty due to the ocean being only a few km away, but will be perfect for watering the lawn which at the moment is completely dead due to no watering for months. And we cut down a huge bougainvillea plant next to the house to make way for a water tank to be placed at the gutter down pipe - so I had to shred the entire bush into mulch to make compost with it. Took many hours hard work, and bleeding hands and arms from the thorns, but I've added lots of pigeon poop and in a few months I will have something to top dress the lawn, now that I have water from underground to water it with.
@narayani Yes the water situation has been very dismal, which is what has prompted us to spend money we don't really have on a well point and water tank. But even if the dams fill up again, at least we can keep our water bill lower from now onwards. But a big storm due to hit Cape Town Tuesday night
@beckyk365 There is an adequate supply for inside use at the moment, although we are being implored to be careful in our use of water - take short showers instead of long baths etc. and the municipalities are even asking us all to not flush the toilet every time one uses it, with the little ditty "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, let it drown"
@seacreature haha well I'll have to remember that next time we're in a drought. And that does happen occasionally. We have a well for all of our water use. One summer a couple of our neighbors' wells dried up and that was pretty scary.
