Today's photo is a cheat taken a few years ago whilst we were on holiday. But it is for a reason. Today would have been our wedding anniversary. Don always used to bring me a bunch of flowers on our anniversary, most often proteas as they were his favourite. So I decided weeks ago that I would buy myself Proteas today so that I am doing something positive instead of feeling sad. Couldn't get exactly what I wanted but bought pincushion proteas instead. Don would have liked the pincushions too so I am feeling happy and contented. It's been a consciousness of working on my attitude to "survive". But I still wanted to use a King Protea to represent "my day" instead of a photo of the flowers I found today. Those will still be around tomorrow ...
Desi, you’re an inspiration to us all. This Protea is lovely...enjoy it; nothing quite as dramatic on my watch...so thank you for 'lending and sending' it to the rest of us.
