Decay 02

This is a shot of what is left of an old factory complex that made train parts and cranes until a few years ago in Loughborough, our local town.

Gone are the sock and hosiery factories, gone are the mills, gone is the crane factory, gone is Ladybird Books. We do still have a Bell Foundry and a factory that makes train engines.

I find it sad that a country that was known as the workshop of the world has seen this all drift away within a couple of generations.

I could write so much more on my thoughts on this subject! I guess that there are similar stories to be told through out the world.

As I took this shot there was a mixture of fading and golden light, and dark rain clouds overhead. I've tweaked the levels a little and changed to B+W to add to the drama.

I expect to return here during the year, there is a lot of scope, and I found it hard to choose which shot to post today.
What is it about urban decay that is so appealing? I love it.

Sad to see the industry go.

Amazing B&W shot. The textures of the broken materials really stand out and that sky is so dramatic! Beautiful capture of the decay, but I do wish the building was still functioning as originally intended and hadn't gotten to such a state! A valuable documentary pic.
