Cockney Rhyming Slang ~ 2 by seanoneill

Cockney Rhyming Slang ~ 2

I was all set to take the sunset today, having spotted a great viewing point yesterday.

Alas, the sky clouded over an hour before sunset, so I needed Plan B.

If anyone needs to know what this means in Cockney Rhyming Slang the clues are in the Tags
Clever!

March 6th, 2012
You kind of gave it away there! Great idea for a theme.
March 6th, 2012
@fueast Thanks Alison, yeah, not everyone knows their Saucepan Lids from their Apples and Pears so thought a clue would be needed!!
March 6th, 2012
I like the Cockney Slang Sean, nice one.:-)
March 6th, 2012

March 6th, 2012
@seanoneill kids? I always thought it was quids. Then again, I haven't lived in the UK for over 10 years, so I guess you are the authority
March 6th, 2012
@lagerdalek definitely. Checked on the official CRS website!!! Though Bin Lids and others do apply, Cockneys often have several rhymes for the same word... http://www.cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk/english/K
March 6th, 2012
@seanoneill Tom Hanks for giving me the Lemon Curd
March 6th, 2012
hahah what an awesome idea.... and how the weather can really make us have to think again!!

Ours is tin lids = kids lol.... what was the apple and pears one then?
March 6th, 2012
Great contrasts here!
March 6th, 2012
Hi, Sean! Clever post, and I learned something, to boot! Gotta say, I'm impressed with the different textures and colors you were able to eek out of three sauce pan lids! Brilliant!
March 7th, 2012
really reaaaally cool! very abstract for such simple objects. nice job!
March 7th, 2012
But will they do all their homework and go to bed when you tell them to? :) Very nice image from such everyday objects. Love the theme too. There's a fish & chips chain in the Vancouver area that has entertaining Cockney rhyming slang printed all over its placemats, but I don't think they list this one. :)
March 7th, 2012
It's amazing how simple lids can look this interesting! Well done :-)
March 7th, 2012
I really like the color, texture and reflection in the top lid. Great Plan B idea!
March 7th, 2012
Beautiful shot, and wow, you near broke my head trying to figure out the Cockney rhyming slang! =)
March 7th, 2012
Very clever.
March 7th, 2012

March 7th, 2012
@pocketmouse @bubbaloooo @danacarruthers @redsockbluesock @zuzana Thanks everyone, your comments are great, it was so difficult to make Saucepan Lids look interesting, so I really appreciate your words.
March 7th, 2012
@rockinrobyn @pippajeanne Thanks so much. This is a fun theme for me, so I am glad that you are enjoying it too and it is testing your grey matter;) More to come yet, hope the link will help you decipher my madness in future:D http://www.cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk/english/S

March 7th, 2012
@reva That's a sore point Reva, they do their homework on time, and are pretty good kids, but they are soooo untidy, and there is a bit of a storm brewing!!! I'm glad you are enjoying the theme, I am too. I am amazed how popular it is. Now Fish and Chips is my favourite meal, and you have given me a few ideas!! I'd love to see a post of the Vancouver Cockney Chippy.
March 7th, 2012

March 7th, 2012
@cathy366 @wardie @lesphoto Thanks all. Great spot Leslie, of all things that is a reflection of a Pop Art style painting we have of Audrey Hepburn in our kitchen!!
March 7th, 2012

Bit like Jimmy Barnes children...Tin Lids...
March 9th, 2012
Oh you mighten know who Jimmy Barnes is....lol
March 9th, 2012
@annbo @debsulzberger @debsulzberger Thanks both. You ar eright Deb, I have no idea who Jimmy Barnes is. Send me a link :)
March 9th, 2012
@debsulzberger @seanoneill I was just scrolling through all the replies before I mentioned the Tin Lids. Deb got there first. Jimmy Barnes (orig a Scot) is the lead singer of Cold Chisel. Legendary Aussie rock band. http://www.jimmybarnes.com/ http://www.coldchisel.com/ You can listen to a few of the classics middle right of the Chisel site.
March 9th, 2012
One last thing... When a radio station does an Aussie all-time top 200, 100, etc., this song is always at number one. The whole nation knows it word for word (well maybe 95%). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKl0hEw-INQ&feature=related
March 9th, 2012
@debsulzberger @sheliwithani @sheliwithani Deb, Sheli, It's very late here and I have just walked in from the pub with far too much of the brown falling down juice inside me. I shall listen in the morning, but thanks for educating me in Jimmy Barnes. BTW, I love Midnight Oil and The Triffids, so hopefully they make it into the top 100 as well.
March 9th, 2012
In case your ears are a tad sensitive in the morning, start with the volume down and bring it up. Jimmy likes to yell just a bit.
March 9th, 2012
@sheliwithani I will load onto the IPod and listen in the car with my 12 n
and 15 year old sons. They are used to my profanities, so, with that in mind, is it appropriate?
March 9th, 2012
Absolutely. Great music. Hope you want to download more.
March 9th, 2012
@sheliwithani @seanoneill I tried to post a picture here but it wont let me but if you go to my November shots i have a photo of Jimmy.. saw him in concert, several times.... awesome music...
March 9th, 2012
@sheliwithani @debsulzberger Thanks both of you, have run out of time this weekend, but Jimmy is on the list for tomorrow!!
March 11th, 2012
great contrast in light
