The snow in the area where we were on holiday was pretty deep, and the accompanying storm meant that we lost our power and water supplies on tuesday night meaning no heat, light, cooking showers or sanitation.
24 hours later and it still wasn't back on, and th epower co were saying it would be between 24 and 48 hours before it was restored. So, sadly, our holiday was cut short by 48 hours, and home we came.
C'est la vie!
The Hole of Horcum looked magnificent, and I took quite a lot of shots up there. Legend has it that the Hole was created by the giant Wade, who scooped out a large chunk of earth to throw at his wife who had angered him. More likely is that it was caused by Levisham Beck eroding its way through the area.
Don't people have wood stoves, oil lamps or camping stoves out there? We have that in our house on Cape Cod in case our power goes out. Works great. Love this pictures by the way.!! The DOF is super.
@sailingmusic Not when you don't expect it! As this was reported as a one in 30 year storm it was kinda hard to pack for! @debsulzberger No problem Deb, we had 6 great days and are taking a couple of days back home to explore our own area a bit more.
What a beautiful shot Sean..love how the dramatic sky meets the beautiful White landscape../such Drama! Sorry your trip was cut short..looks like a Beautiful Place for a Vacation!
Gorgeous landscape shot. I like all the patterns of stuff peeking through the thin snow. :) Sorry to hear your holiday got cut short like that, but glad to hear you took it in stride. :)
