I run 3 businesses and 2 cricket teams, and try to be a good dad and husband too. So, there are rarely enough hours in the day, and 365 can make life difficult at times when work, home and cricket collide.
I try to make my 365 photo something good everyday, but often choose a landscape, flower or macro shot at the detriment of documenting a year in my family's life.
Today I have been working with my new light tent and taking some product shots of a kitchen gadgets range that one of my companies supplies to a UK retailer. So, today's shot might look odd, but it is a proper day in the life shot.
In using one of these shots I have probably saved myself an hour finding another shot, setting it up, processing it etc. I am going to spend that hour catching up with people's work.
you are a very busy man Sean how you manage to cope and find the time to encourage others on here amazes me. You are always so thoughtful and sharing with your comments.
@asutherland1964 Cheers Andrew, I thought you amongst others would. Funny thing is I see 365 as a new long lost family member, one that I want to spend a lot of time with to catch up on lost time. It has been very difficult in the last 2 months.
@svt Lol Sophie. My wife will laugh when she reads your comment. She would call me Grumpyman, Downthepubman, spend toomuchtimewithmycameraman, Worktoohardman, Can'tfindthekitchenman......
@ozziehoffy Cheers Cassandra, I rarely sit down and watch TV, so that probably earns me 3 or 4 hours a day compared to most of the population of the western world!! That said, I shall be watching England v Ukraine this evening at our cricket club after net practice!!
You put me to shame! I have fallen way behind on 365 lately and have no valid excuse. All I can say for myself is that I seem to be terrible at time management. I like your spatula pic. Looks straight out of a catalogue.
You are awesome... and your pictures are wonderful.... don't kill yourself with all you do.... that is what makes some of us tick however .... sometimes the busier we are the more we get done.... I so admire your work and the fact that you are a good husband and Dad..... oops off on a tangent....love the spatula....
@photos222 Awww Sybil, you want to try living with me!!! I agree though, if you want something doing, ask a busy person!! Thanks for such a lovely comment, and glad you like the spatula :))
Proud of you - a real inspiration to someone who is STILL trying to fit daily photography into the fray. You make me want to be better ... and more consistent! Thank you for that.
(And btw, 'fish slice' is a whole new name in my dictionary. We just call it an egg lifter.)
........and on top of all that you always add such helpful and inspirational comments..........what a man!! I agree the days are just not long enough, here dinner is nearly always late, sometimes scorched and sometimes both!! Soldier on we need you.........great fish slice!
Goodness Sean you are a busy man & still find time to give me good advice which helps others too I see! I would think this shot isn't as easy as it looks..you have no shadow there at all. Good to see one of the every day shot in the life of Sean O'Neill!
@soboy5@louisefrance I must assure you both that I am not a professional photographer :) My main business just doesn't have enough employees for me to delegate this sort of work!
We all know the feeling of trying to keep up... I like this snippet of your world. Part of the reason we are here is to document our lives, I think we often forget that.
@sugarmuser absolutely. I love the challenge of taking a wonderful photograph, but I think I would implode if I tried this everyday!! Somedays it has to be something from my day, not something I have gone out of my way to shoot.
Sean, I've not used my camera since Monday of last week, with my shot of the autumn leaves. I just have no motivation so am enjoying looking at everyone else's photos, including yours (and all the lovely things people have to say about you). I'll have to backfill this past week somehow, sometime but until then.... Maybe I should turn to my kitchen for inspiration. Goodness knows I could probably stock a homewares store on my own. My stuff overflows into my bedroom, I have that much.
Even though you're so busy, your shots are always a pleasure to see . Your project is wonderful!
By the way, I looked at the link you sent me....what can i say, now I'm really tempted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
Oh i am hearing you Sean...i love this 365 family and have becomes very close with many of you but sometimes there just never seems to be enough hours in the day..I work fulltime, volunteer once a month, visit my mum twice a week since my Dad died, and try to keep the house looking like it resembles some sort of order...Luckily, yes luckily my husband works away during the week because i don't have to listen to him growl because i am either out and about shooting something or on this computer looking at what everyone else is shooting LOL poor him sometimes.. so if i ever miss your photos, please understand :P
You have soon learned how to use the light tent Sean! Amazing how you manage all these things and still make really good comments on the photos of others and replies too.
@sheliwithani I am sorry to hear that Sheli, though can absolutely understand it. I often think of giving up, but tell myself that I will feel so bad for missing taking just 1 photo. Still, how great of you to still look in on people. Hope your Mojo returns soon.
@debsulzberger Oh yes I definitely understand Deb, I am the same, I have 200+ followers but for the last 2 months I have only commented on about 40 or 50 regularly. Not because I don't want to, more because there just isn't time! In turn that leads to only 40 or 50 commenting on mine, but that's cool! You keep going, I so enjoy your shots of Tasmania, I so want to vist a place that I knew so litle about before 365.
@jillmstruss Aww, thanks Jill. I sometimes bite off more than I can chew, then poor old Rebecca has to run around picking up the trail of devastation that I leave behind me!!
You certainly are doing well to shoot, post and especially comment with your busy life. Your day in your life shot is good too. (although I realise that it encompassed work too). Sometimes I have rejected a very ordinary everyday shot as "boring" when actually it was in my day, especially if I cant get to make it interesting in any way!
What a great conversation this is. I've enjoyed reading and I think the fact that you've commented to so many today, shows your dedication to the project and your followers. Wow, I'm amazed you do what you do. I'm with so many here on the no time or energy for the project, but I'll take it easy now, having read your list! Thanks so much for hanging in there and providing us with thoughtful and also amusing comments.
oh and that is one impressive egg flip! I wonder if I got a light box whether my kitchen utensils would suddenly become top-of-the-range ;-)
I want to have your time management skills Sean! :-) You can get all that done plus 365 project and commenting. I have a diy lightbox on my to do list, it might happen when we can't go outside because of the weather.
@tulipgirl Thanks so much Alicia, I enjoy what you all do, every day my own personal album with my followers and friends shots in is so diverse, it is a pleasure when I can find time to view and comment.
@zuzana lol, thanks Zuzana, well I do run an A,B,C list every week, have done for years. It really helps me to stay focussed, that is why I can go off radar on 365 when I am very busy....
Nice shot : you are ready to offer your shot for kitchen magazine!!! :D
Keep up the good work!
