This is a shot and post that I have been thinking of for a while, and have even discussed with a couple of my friends on here.
There is a line in a song by James that goes...
"Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes I swear I can see your soul"
Here is a link to it. If you get a chance to listen to it, it is a wonderful song, and 20 years after I first heard it, the hairs on the back of my neck still stand up when I listen to it today.
This is how I feel about my own children, that I can look in their eyes and see their souls.
I could warble on now about their personalities, but I have decided not to. They both know how much I love them, and how my ambitions in life revolve around their success, health and happiness.
As I type this I've had a text from Rebecca to say that she is enjoying a Gluhwein at her sister Victoria's favourite mountain top hut in Austria, the Kristalhutte at Kaltenbach. This will be a very sweet but emotional moment for Rebecca, as Victoria passed away in 2008. As this post is about the soul, I am sure that Rebecca will feel closer to Victoria's right now, which is a good thing.
@annbo Thank you Ann. I know how special your daughter is to you. Ben is the same to me. I see total trust in me in this eyes, and the love of a child for his parents.
Well it's is quite a powerful shot really, with that selective colouring. I guess also knowing a little about him and also reading Rebecca and Victoria's story adds to the emotion. Thank you for posting and for sharing about it.
Beautiful portrait Sean, Ben looks so calm and comfortable in front of the lens... You obviously bring that out in him. You are such a softie and so in touch with your emotions, nuce to see in a man......I've not really tackled any family solo portraits, I feel inspired by this to have a go though. Fav
@soboy5 Thank you Danny, that i svery kind of you. I try to be a good dad, and teach my kids how to live their lives correctly. I don't alway succeed, and have already been grumpy dad with Ben this morning!!
What a fantastic portrait Sean.
Grumpy Dad is a good person I think. Dads only get grumpy coz they care.
James - in the headphones - very loud - smooths me out in no time!
The drummer, David Baynton - Power is brilliant and I now always get you and Sam popping into my head when I listen to James.
Father's eyes........I would imagine from the self portrait 2 weeks ago!! An amazing image, he looks so comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, well done, fabulous indeed.
That's the second selective coloring picture I see in half an hour that I like. I always thought I disliked selective coloring. You made me change my mind. Great portrait.
Filling the frame with his face makes this a very intimate portrait. We can FEEL what he is like. The eye color choice just adds to the feeling. Really well done.
This a very special moment for Rebecca!
