Barrow backstreets ~ 1 by seanoneill

Barrow backstreets ~ 1

It was bitterly cold today, but I decided to have a walk in the backstreets of the village I work in.

I drive past this building on the corner of Beveridge St and Melton Rd most weeks, but braved the cold today to go and shoot it and was rewarded by the postman wandering into shot. I have a similar shot of an old lady pushing her shopping trolley that I will save for another day

What strikes me about this building is how dilapidated it looks, but look at those incredibly straight chimneys!!

Thank you all for such wonderful feedback on my shots of Lewes's Plantation and my shot and tale of mine and Rebecca's first date. You're the best!!

I have so little time at present, but I will try and catch up with as many of your projects as I can by the weekend.

You've really captured this area so well. Are you planning to create a book about it?

Really like this one as it has a figure in it looking at....not sure what! maybe delivery instructions?

Interesting corner building complete with a boarded up window.

The human interest really adds to this.

This building definitely looks as though it has seen better days. Good contrast between the new windows upstairs and the boarded up windows on the ground floor.

I love this great little corner house. I like the curved street corner in contrast to the square architecture.

Nice one, who cares about windows as long as the chimneys are straight

Brilliant!

Super sharp image, but it does look sad. Great to get the postman, Sean.

A great shame that these corner shops have been forced to close. I am sure that they served more than just a retail purpose - one can only imagine the gossip that was passed on behind those doors in times past! Lovely record shot.

To my eyes, there's something quintessentially northern about this. ;)

I like the composition and the man standing there.

Funny, I didn't spot the postman, I just thought was marvellous brickwork. Seems whoever built it took great pride in it, whatever is going on there now. The B&W works wonderfully well

Interesting capture - the building seems to be in better repair from the top storey up. Great that you caught the postman. I don't envy him or his back having to bend down to post the letters!

Oh my! Your backstreet shots are wonderful Sean. Another one with someone in it - gives it a story.
