LGS CCF Inspection Day ~ 5 by seanoneill

LGS CCF Inspection Day ~ 5

For an explanation of what LGS CCF Inspection Day was, see my main album shot from yesterday.

Inbetween the parade and inspection and the Gun Race we were free to wander about the school and visit the new science blocks, as well as watch lots of demonstartions by the CCF.

I was struck by this scene of two lads in Dress Uniform who had decided on an impromptu game of basketball. I do like photographs that have a bit of juxtaposition in them!

Happy Mother's Day to all who are celebrating it today. I've not seen or spoken to my mother since 2001, so will wish all other Mothers a lovely day instead.

it struck me too - very out of the ordinary :)

Mmm playing ball!!! Nice one.

That's so sad that you and your mum aren't in contact Sean!

@bella_ss I don't lose any sleep over it, it's a long story, but when your parents reject you at a very early age, and repeated attempts to have a relationship with them make you realise that you and your children aren't important to them, you move on and leave the past behind you.

@seanoneill Totally understandable on your part Sean... I just don't understand how any mother could do that! And now as I'm a grandmother to understand how she could miss out on her grandchildren too. We're not all made equal are we? I'm sure your family had a lovely Mother's Day regardless.

Love a bit of basketball! Even better in uniform, nice job!

@bella_ss I agree. I'm baffled that my parents have both missed out on their grandchildren. Their loss.

Cool capture, very fun. Fav

Humor in photography is difficult, and I got a smile out of this one. I don't see them driving to the basket, though.
I am so fortunate that my Mother and Mother-In-Law were both so loved and loving. They are both gone now.

Great candid. Sorry to hear about the situation with your mother, as long as you have made peace with the situation I guess that's all that matters.

what a brilliant catch this was - nice job

Great photo and a massive loss for your parents, but their choice sadly.

I like that you captured this with the ball in the air. And the uniforms are such an incongruity!

What a great shot, yours not theirs. I love that those are "NBA" boards, too.
I don't love what you said happened to you in your childhood and I hope you have more true love than you know what to do with now.

I think you know I always give a Fav to a quirky photo! Love this one. I too regret your dysfunctional family background. I know from your posts how much family life means to you - what was it Larkin wrote -
"They ... .you up your Mum and Dad."

Used to play basketball - not in uniform though!! Great shot.

Love the ball just about to go through the hoop, and you are right about the juxtaposition, works really well.

Well spotted and nicely timed. I have just emailed you.

Fun shot, how can I not fav this? That the balls trajectory is off target makes it lovely quirky.

I like this shot. Reminds me of those classic old Life magazine shots where someone is stopped mid scene....

This is such a fun capture and a real smile-maker.

Joe
What strikes me is that the pose of both is such that neither appears to have thrown the ball.......
