Taken on Sandown beach when we visited the Isle of Wight.
Well done to my team, Southampton, who won for the first time since 1989 away to Manchester United today. I wasn't there today, but I was in 1989!
Ben and I enjoyed a trip to see Taken 3 this afternoon before coming home to watch the football. Good film, not a great film, but worth the entrance money!
Love the drama in this shot. These shots and some others by some uk 365ers have made me ask Stephen to book a days holiday and take me on the trains to the seaside somewhere to have a days photography without the kids. Surprised to hear Stephen agreed if we travelled by train?
@newbank Ah very good. I love the British Seaside for photography Ruth. I have a 3 day course on long exposure in Brighton in March. I can't wait!! I would recommend Brighton, but buy separate tickets to St Pancras and from London to Brighton for the best deal! I think Hastings is good too. I hope you get somewhere soon. Take a tripod and some filters!!
@seanoneill what filters would you recommend? I don't have any but do have a birthday in a few weeks.... The course sounds great. Look forward to seeing the results.
@newbank Assuming you have a DSLR with interchangeable lenses, I would recommend a set of ND Graduated filters and a 10 stop filter. There is a company called Lee Filters who make some amazing quality filters. Their 10 stop filter is called a Big Stopper and I see they have a new Little Stopper (6 stops). It basically adds 10 stops time to an exposure, so if you have metered a shot at 1/125 it would increase it to 8 seconds and smooth out the sea and give movement in the clouds. They aren't cheap but they are the best! You will also need a filter holder and adaptors for different width lenses, though I would suggest only your wide angles and medium telephotos would be lenses to use with the filters. If your camera isn't a DSLR, I think you can get filter systems for say a CSC.
Great architectural shot and the intersecting lines of cirrus aviaticus in the sky somehow reflect the box shapes of the buildings. Excellent in b&w which is something I want to learn more about, so I will be following you.
Andrew went to the match with his Southampton supporting friend - much celebration from him.
Wonderful photo - so good to see you're back. Love the contrast - really pops.
@jantan We ar emade up with Saints Jan. I have supported them through thin and thinner for 45+ years now, we are enjoying our brief period in the sunshine. Tough matches tonight and on Saturday!!
