Trolleybus in Seattle "Technology that has made a difference."
The trolleybus is an electric bus that draws its electricity from overhead wires. The trolleybus dates back to April 29, 1882 in a Berlin suburb. We feel very protective of our tolleybuses. For one, trolley buses don't make the air smell like diesel. They don't shake your house when they drive by. And they don't emit greenhouse gases from the tailpipe.
This is technology that has lasted over time....
I remember when I was a child living in Derby they had trolleybuses , like this may be not so smart and I think they were double - decker. interesting shot
Love these trolleybuses - they are so much nicer than the smelly ones! What a great way to get about Seattle - my husband was stationed there years ago! We've been back for visits - love it!
Lovely shot...I also like the nostalgia factor of using trolleys. We have some "pretend" trolleys in Richmond...just buses dressed up to look like trolleys...that doesn't really count though!
RE: I'm making roasted eggplant sandwiches with fresh mozzerella, provolone, marinara sauce, fresh basil, all on a toasted bagutte. Served up with red wine. Mmmmm ....
I like it when the buses go were there are not overhead cables, at least I remember that happening. I could be wrong, we do not spend as much time in Seattle as we used to since my brother-in-law moved from Bremerton to Bellingham.
Great shot. I didnt know you had trolley buses in Seattle. We have them in NZ too particularly in Wellington although yours look much newer than our old work horses.
