The unbearable lightness of being

This is for the 52 week Dogwood challenge where this week's focus is:
Inspiration: Weight or Mass
Heavy as a stone, light as a feather. Find inspiration and shoot an amazing photograph.

About the Inspiration category:
“In this wide-open category, we start with a simple inspiration. Use this inspiration as creatively as you can. There are no rules so feel free to think outside of the box.”

This started off in blues, but I prefer the black and white. I've also taken it square for the May half and half challenge.

Neither was it what I intended to shoot today. I was supposed to be helping at the Guides stall at the May Fair for most of today, with opportunities for maypole dancing and Morris men. However, when I came home to make lunch to go with the medications my daughter wasn't well enough to leave, and although we did try the second emergency antihistamine the first dose didn't work either.

Three good things:
1. My foot is still pretty colours, but isn't so swollen and less painful to move
2. we did manage to control my daughter's breathing today
3. I managed to avoid all the nasty hail showers this afternoon having to stay at home.

Thank you for all your amazing comments and support. I prefer to spend time looking at your pictures rather than thanking you individually below.
It's a very interesting picture because I'm not sure what's on the right and I like the wispy feeling of the feathers on the left. Glad to hear your daughter is breathing better now- that must be so hard for her.

That must be so scary for her (and you) with breathing problems. I can't work out what's on the rhs either, my guess is it's heavy and metallic but that's as far as I can get!

I can’t tell what’s on the right either, but it does look considerable heavier than the feather. Very nice effect for half and half. Like the b&w choice. And look at all the challenges you tagged. Amazing with all else you have going on.

The B&W edit brings out the details in the feathers and the glossy stones. Nicely done.

@olivetreeann @shutterbug49 @shutterbug49 those are beads used for flower arranging. I bought them for a church thing years ago (dropping into a bowl of water - blue bowl, blue stones)

Great interpretation of the theme. It looks really good in B&W, it enhances the detail.

@olivetreeann @jacqbb @fbailey the breathing difficulties are the major issue currently - she has something that is being called chronic idiopathic angioaedema, which presents as anaphylaxis - swollen mouth, throat and tongue, urticaria rash all over her face. It has been being controlled with antihistamines and steroids, but one of the steroids is damaging taken long term, so currently she's weaning off it, and her symptoms are returning.
