I have photographed this medal before, but not for this project.
In November I ran the New York City Marathon. I finished in 6:12:20 - not fast, but I finished. My plan is that this will be my one and only marathon, and I'm thrilled to have done it.
Two months later, it seems surreal that I did this. During my training I felt confident in my ability to run this race and finish it, but once I crossed that finish line I felt like a spell had been broken. I have no idea how I got through all of that training and how I ran not only a marathon, but the friggin' New YorK City Marathon.
Yet somehow I did. And I have the medal to prove it.
