Safe at Home (Hopefully The Third Time's The Charm)

I had initially shot this scene yesterday, but for a variety of reasons decided to go with a different shot for the project. So I re-shot it this morning, but I thought that the direct light on the patio was too bright. This afternoon we had a little bit of cloud cover for a few minutes, so I gave it another try - it doesn't have the extraneous objects that appeared in yesterday's shot, and it doesn't have this morning's harsh lighting.

Several years ago, we obtained some seats from Philadelphia's soon-to-be-torn-down (at the time) Veterans Stadium. My husband suggested that we build a baseball-themed patio in order to go with the ultimate outdoor seats. I feared that the result would be garish, but I figured that he put up with enough of my crazy ideas that I owed him a few. But the end result was very tasteful, and unless you're looking for the baseball diamond design it's actually easy to overlook.

But when you do look, it's definitely a baseball diamond. Home plate is in the foreground, with the first and third base lines branching out from there. The brown bricks in the middle, just in front of the table, comprise the pitching mound.

Play ball!
:) It's wonderful!
