I have been reading Going Candid, Thomas Leuthard's eBood on Street Photography. I decided to try out some of his techniques this morning while I was waiting for my car to be serviced.
This young lady was sitting next to me in the waiting room. I clicked a few pictures around the room so nobody would notice what I was doing, and then quickly snapped this shot of her while she was focusing on her cellphone. I chose this as my shot of the day because I like her look of concentration and the way the light from the window hits her.
Since this was my first attempt at street photography, I figured that I'd apply black and white to it. I like the effect.
Wow! You are brave and lucky she didn't notice you did this....some people get very offended if you take their picture without their permission. I think I understand why you didn't because you wanted the candidness and it worked. Great shot!
She didn't notice me. I was snapping other things in the waiting room, and she didn't see me turn towards her.
Later on I did shoot a woman who noticed me. I mumbled something about the things in the waiting room that I was shooting and she didn't say anything.
If either of my subjects had said anything I would have shown them the shots and offered to delete them. But according to Leuthard's book, most people don't notice or care.
Thanks Isis.

Thanks Kerri :)
I'm not a kid, but I'm guilty as well....
