This is one of those days when I'm replacing my project photo.
First of all, I wasn't feeling it when I posted the sausages on the grill this afternoon - it wasn't a bad shot, but there was nothing inspired about it.
Secondly, I was in a funk, and my guru of all things photography, in so many words, told me to stop whining, get my camera, and take some pictures around town. He suggested I take my 35mm lens, shoot at a fast aperture, and challenge myself.
So I took myself to the township's arboretum, and shot 96 frames. I deleted most of them, but kept a few - it was a good exercise.
The arboretum is home to our township's 9/11 memorial. We lost seven people that day. I was touched to see that somebody had visited the memorial fairly recently, and left a stone on David Suarez's name in remembrance.
I had forgotten just how many things there are to shoot at the arboretum; I'm sure I'll return there at least a few times in the next week, and then again beyond that.
A lovely way to remember those we lost. I actually lost some dear friends that day that worked on the 83rd floor (1st building hit). It's not something you ever get over. I worked in Wall Street for 12 years and was at the WTC every single day. I went there last month for the first time in 16 years..walking around and looking at the progress made on the new building. I love that it will be called Freedom Tower. I stood in front of those footprints for a long time and cried. I don't know that I will be back again...maybe it will take me another 16 years! I like this photo a lot Sharon...nicely done!
Sorry forgot to answer your question...the photo was taken in Santa Fe...I recently edited however. It's around the block from the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum...love that place!
Thank you Joseph.
