During our return trip from Wales we stopped at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which carries the Llangollen Canal 38m above the River Dee. It was a nice day for boating, and there was a steady stream of narrow boats travelling along the 3.5m wide aqueduct towards us, and with definitely no room to for boats travelling in opposite directions to pass each other the operators of a large and long narrow boat was waiting patiently to take his boat across to a wharf on the far side of the aqueduct, no doubt to some holiday makers looking forward to a week on the canal. Among the boats coming towards us was this Pirate Ship, clearly a day trip with a theme. Somehow they had managed to pick up a family of a duck and ducklings, and shepherded them safely from one end of the narrow aqueduct to the other.
I love this capture! Love your story also. Idea of them helping this family of ducks through the canal/locks (?) is so sweet. You can see the wonderment in the lad's face! The colors and reflections are awesome. FAV
This is such a fun and unusual capture and tells a great little story. Fav.
I've seen the Pontcysyllte - it's a fanastic feat of engineering but you wouldn't get me on it for all the tea in China!
