Aquatic hedgehogs, which are quite rare, although they have been seen much more often in the recent wet weather, when the local river has often burst its banks. The dogs love to run and splash around them, but the aquatic hedgehogs just lie still, and allow the water to flow around them. As the floods recede they retreat with the water, and if you re-visit when the water is back where it belongs, all that you will see is rough grass.
