This was taken during the return leg of a walk to Thurlaston, one of the nearby villages, visible across the fields from our garden. The farmer always restores the footpath after ploughing, sowing etc, and of course it gets sprayed whenever the crop is sprayed, and so stays weed free. When this crop first sprouted I thought that it was a cereal, probably wheat, but it seems to be far too dense for a cereal crop. It certainly isn’t meadow grass – we will know what it is by the end of summer! This particular morning followed a night of rain, and the crop glistened with water droplets.
Is this a bean crop? I can see flowers. Maybe flax or linen. We have paths through the fields soon but Saski is driving me mad eating the crops then upsetting her innards!!
@lucypics Definaitly not beans - could be flax or Linen, or maybe linseed? I haven't a clue what they all look like, apart from the fields of blue linseed that we used to see a few years ago.
