Home after a weekend camping with friends in the Derbyshire Dales, where this morning the remnants of the Canadian Hurricane Bertha threw the rain at us in torrents. We abandoned a planned cycle ride, and instead popped in to an Ashbourne café for a full English breakfast before coming home. @shepherdmanswife told me that the weather in Leicestershire had been just as wet, as indeed it still was when I got home, and so I was pleased when the rain was replaced by a strong, but dry, wind which dried my tent, camping chairs, my waterproofs, and in fact virtually everything else that had travelled with me. By the time that I took the dogs for their evening walk this evening rain was once again threatening, with dark clouds spreading across the sky, and by the time we were on our way home the evening sun had been blotted out, heavy drops of rain were being blown into my face, and we got home just as it started to rain heavily once more. I hope that this isn’t the end of what has been a wonderful summer.
