The footpath leading down from the heather moor at Surprise View, Derbyshire. @shepherdmanswife wanted to photograph the path winding its way through the silver birch trees, but didn’t feel that neither I nor the dogs enhanced the view, and so I found a convenient spot off of the track, behind this rather oddly growing trunk. The trouble with some of @shepherdmanswife lenses is that you can never be sure whether you are in the shot or not. Apparently we were still in the frame, and seemed to be so in all the convenient out-of-the-way clearings that I found close to the path (avoiding the surrounding bracken, since we didn’t want the dogs to be attacked by marauding ticks). I wanted my own shot of the birches, and we had one of those brief “You are in my shot!” “No, you are in mine!” conversations, before the dogs and I decided to head off down to the car park. @shepherdmanswife followed a few minutes later. We had had a good day, but I think that she was a bit disappointed since the late afternoon sun promised a golden hour of light that would make the heather glow, but we had family visiting, and had to head home to welcome them.
You two must be great competition for each other - and also great support! Don't know about the dogs but they would appreciated the effort for a good photo!
@maggiemae I don't attempt to compete with my wife - I know when I'm on to a loser! But we enjoy the hobby together, and she tries to improve my technique - a challenging task.
This is fabulous! Makes me think of a dinosaur. Loved the commentary - I'm constantly telling my Hubby to get out of my shot, or some other poor, unsuspecting photographer ;-)
