I couldn’t finish my series of pictures of Derbyshire heather without a shot of the artiste setting off to work. @shepherdmanswife is not a huge fan of moorland walks, but will scrambled over rocks, climb over stiles, and clamber over fences if she feels that she will be rewarded with a better point of view. Shortly after taking this photograph I had a perfect silhouette of her, with her camera and tripod against the sky, which had great potential as a shot, but at that moment a large family approached from the higher path, a couple with two springer spaniels were heading towards me from the lower path, and a couple could be seen striding across the heather in my direction. The track wasn’t much more than a foot wide, and so I had to resume my main job as Dog Control Manager, keeping my two dogs out of the way to allow moorland traffic to keep flowing. I think that @shepherdmanswife’s smile shows what a lovely afternoon we had. No doubt more autumnal heather images will appear in due course as fill-in images, since the season of dark dog walks is on the horizon. Those in the southern hemisphere may feel suitably smug.
Great shot of a happy photographer. Had to smile as hubby is the dog control manager trying to keep two very exuberant sausages untangled and on the same agenda. We do manage to share the photography :-)
This is stunning - I had never been familiar with your gorgeous fields of heather though I had heard (but not seen) of them. Super picture of your other half - that red color is terrific against the heather.
