We returned from a gorgeous dog walk, in strong sunshine with a hint of pre-spring warmth but still crunching through frosty grass and over frozen mud. As we walked into our back garden a pair of buzzards were circling lazily over the field at the rear of our home, and as we watched they drifted towards us on the northerly breeze, still circling low over the garden, eventually disappearing over the roof of our house to continue their search for mice, or whatever they were hunting, in the fields across the Lane. With a bright sky behind and the birds dipping from side-to-side as they balanced their wings, with a span of over a metre, I almost decided that capturing one successfully would be impossible, but had a go anyway, pretty much point and shoot. Apologies for the graininess – they may have been relatively low, but they weren't exactly swooping over the dogs, and some cropping/enlarging was required.
