Children, old and young, loved the animals that joined us at a recent family gathering, which included insects and reptiles as well as fur and feather. I’m sure that this barn owl was listening intently for any rodents that may be rustling among the crops in the fields behind our home, but clearly decided that meat served on a plate was less energetic, and this bird stayed firmly in the hand rather than heading for the bush.
That is an amazing shot. I had to stare at it for a few minutes just to figure out what it was. When I read an owl, I then saw the eye and the nose and it's as clear as anything!! Great shot.
