A fill in from our holiday in Northumberland, a tiny harbour with 19th century lime kilns and an adjacent sandy beach complete with ice cream van. Those clouds had delivered heavy showers during our walk that led to the harbour, but allowed us to enjoy the tranquillity of the place while staying dry. We returned a few days later, to go crabbing with granddaughters, dangling string baited with bacon fat into rock pools. Tia thought this was a total waste of bacon fat, and made every effort to liberate it from the bucket used to carry it to the beach
