Early morning (well, at this time of the year, not too early) looking over Croft Quarry to Croft Hill, the reddish tones of the granite enhancing the morning sun. Or maybe the morning sun enhancing the reddish tones of the granite. It’s only a few decades since from this location you could stroll across grazed turf up to the top of Croft Hill, with Huncote Quarry to your left, before descending the far side of the Hill, Croft Quarry on your left, into Croft village, without following the road. Both quarries are now one deep hole, wrapping around one side of the Hill, about 500 feet from the top of Croft Hill to the bottom of the quarry.
