A Murmuration by shepherdman

A Murmuration

Conversation this morning: Me "I fancy seeing The Big Short or Dads Army" @shepherdmanswife "Do you fancy seeing A Murmuration? "What is it about?" "A flock of starlings" "What??"
I was reading a film review, @shepherdmanswife was reading a Facebook post inviting members of her photo club to see a murmuration of starlings. We went to see the murmuration at dusk, and it was a most fantastically surreal display, finishing with a rush of wings, like a waterfall, as the birds swooped low overhead to settle in reeds just in front of us. Not the best quality shot - I'm afraid that, while being surrounded by enthusiasts discussing appropriate settings, I decided that conditions were too difficult for my skills, and so I opted for "Sport".
Wow that is a big flock, we get very small shows here of about 300

This is amazing. I remember seeing it when I was younger. We do have the occasional starlings here in Australia, but not enough to perform a display like this.
