Gentle giant or bolshy beast?

This chap was one of a heard of similar beasts contentedly grazing in a field adjacent to a local country park. I suspect that he (although actually he may be a she - a hedge prevented a detailed examination) looks a lot more fierce than is actually the case. I'm not sure of the breed - my limited casual farmwork in my youth was mostly spent "bale carting", working with straw rather than livestock.

That cow and his eye plus the horn is quite frightening! Good focus through some sort of bush or plant!

This photo is interesting to look at. Like Maggiemae said, the eye and the horn are quite unusual and the coloring really increases the texture.

Not a breed that I recognize either .. but I do recognize the look in the eye .. and it usually means... move away quickly ..
