Another Donna Nook shot. Motherly love, but not for long. Within three weeks of birth, Mum heads out to sea, leaving the pup to fend for itself. However it must be said that during those 2 - 3 weeks the motherly love is fairly intense, with almost constant feeding with "milk" that has a lot more fat than water, and so by the time Mum decides that she is ready for a lot more "me" time, her pup has plenty of blubber for the final week or so onshore, and the beginning of life at sea
