Occasionally I spot one of these Evening Primrose plants all on its own at the side of the road or in a field. I guess the birds drop their seeds in odd places. They are a weed but I love them. We used to have them in our garden but they just took over and so have been removed! The flowers open in the evening and seem to glow. The flowers only seem to be open for one evening then die but there's usually another flower on the stem to take its place.
Nice shot! We used to have them in the garden. Beware the stamens because they are sticky and deposit bright yellow pollen that is sticky too - it is the devil to remove from clothing.
@ziggy77@khirsch@craftymeg@shepherdman@steampowered@taffy the strange thing is that the ones that grew in the garden grew to at least 6 feet high yet these individual ones in the field are only about 1 foot high. I went to have a look at this one in the field again tonight but there were no new flowers, just drooping old ones. Such a shame!
