I thought I would try something different and turn this photo that I took recently into an oil painting. I don't really know how to do it but pushed a few sliders until I ended up with this effect that I quite like. Perhaps I should invest in some lessons on how to use PS! What do you think?

Thank you to everyone who helped get this photo to PP!
Well...being an expert and having used PS oil paint filter ever since it came out in Version 5, I would say you "got it right!" Very nice. I will tell you another tip! Make an Action of the oil paints selecrions you like and number them. Then all you have to do is click on and click off the Action until you like one. I have 20 Actions with all kinds of different settings, so I just click on click off until I visually see what I want! :).
I use Photoshop Elements because I can't afford the real thing, but there are a lot of similarities. There is so much to it, an introductory course or book will really help, and then you play and play and learn what you really want to! I like to make a duplicate layer of my image, use the filters that came with PS Elements, and then reduce opacity of the layer to let some of the original back through. There are tutorials online too, some on Adobe's site I think.
@therubysusan Thank you for your advice. The main problem that I have is time! Shouldn't wish your life away but look forward to retiring then will have the time to experiment more.
