Get Off My Ball! by shepherdmanswife

Get Off My Ball!

This gull had found a sponge ball and I am sure he thought it was food, as did about a dozen other gulls who were squabbling over it. He flew off with it stuck in it's beak as it was chased by the others, then landed back on the beach to continue trying to swallow it. I hope he managed to let go in the end as it would have been a long slow starvation.I think he was ok because if you look at this large you will see lots of holes in the foam where they had been fighting over it.

Thank you everyone for your concern over my illness. I am still feeling really poorly but am fighting these bugs and hope to win the fight very soon. I am worried about it going to my chest again as I had pneumonia in January and was off work for 2 months. I can't afford any more time off work sick so am struggling to stay at work and am looking forward to the weekend when I can have a rest.

Great capture of these two gulls, full of character. I didn't know a beak could open quite that wide! I really like their shadows. I'm so sorry that you are not well. Do take care of yourself as much as possible and don't get pneumonia again!

Lots of nasty bugs around. Rest up where you can. Body knows what rest it needs. Speedy recovery. If the gull swallowed that, well I don't think rest would fix it somehow.
