I have no idea why these two sparrows were so transfixed with the door mirror of my car. I watched them for ages. They kept trying to get into the mirror and even tried to get into my car through the window. It must be something to do with their mating ritual as I have never seen such strange behaviour from a pair of birds.
How cute is this. Love it and it's a Fav! I've heard about birds being interesting in mirrors and windows and people have told me that the birds think they see another bird in them.
Great capture. Obviously a FAV. I seen this behaviour with chaffinches where they land on my car mirrors when it was parked. Also had chaffinch that would come to the study window and tap tap on it. Had get the cleaner in. LOL
We have a male chaffinch who bangs his head against our bedroom window - he's been doing it for years so it's probably a different bird each spring. All we can think is that they see their reflection as being a rival bird. Amazing shot - fav
my partner who is a driver has had his truck mirrors 'attacked' over and over by a couple of birds when he used to park for lunch...maybe they think it's another bird and want to find out where it's hiding?...silly birds...great photo though...fav
Lovely shot, it is strange you have this problem. I have a female backbird that is doing just the same on our car. I have tried parking it a different places but it is still their. Our daughter came at the weekend and parked her car where ours usually parks and it never bothered hers. I have to wash the car every time I want to use it because of all the calling cards it leaves :)
A good feel shot Fav.
