RAF Tornado in the Welsh Mountains by shepherdmanswife

RAF Tornado in the Welsh Mountains

Yesterday we went to the Mach Loop, situated between Dollgellau and Machynlleth where the fighter jets come zooming down the valley right in front of you if you are up to what the book inferred is a gentle stroll up Cad West to be at eye level with the jets as they come through.
I can tell you it was no gentle stroll but a heart quickener to say the least. It took me ages to climb up that side of the mountain to get to this vantage point. We sat in the scorching heat (very unusual for Wales) with lots of other photographers for 3 hours before this beauty came through. About 1/2 an hour later a second one flew through. Alas no more so we made it down the mountain to the lake to cool off. What an exciting day.
