We have been on holiday to North Yorkshire and stayed in Danby, 11 miles inland from Whitby, on the edge of the Moors. It was such a surprise to see areas of Heather that was in flower. Doesn't it usually flower in August?
Hi Chantal,
Lovely photo, my home patch! . There are two species of heather, the early one that flowers in late June to July and the actual heather that flowers in August. The earlier variety is a much brighter colour and grows mainly along the edges of the road, it’s a variety that seems to have appeared over the last 15 years or so, or that’s when we started noticing it more. Come in August and you will see the difference!!
Yes I have made cards for about 35 years, I started to sell photo cards in 2000 and supplied local post offices and garden centres with handmade and photo cards. I cut down my workload when local post offices closed. For the past 10 years I have just made cards to order and get a lot more pleasure not having to make hundreds of cards at a time. Your photo cards are beautiful, I’m sure they sell well. I know I sold many thousands over the years.
@craftymeg that explains the vibrant purple heather we saw, which was brighter than in this image. It was lovely seeing patches of it at this time of year. I think I need to come back in August as those moors will be spectacular.
